Named for the renowned German explorer and naturalist Alexander von Humboldt, this richly appointed suite holds one of The Wildflower Hotel's most intriguing historic treasures: an original mural preserved and framed within the wall. A portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm—an enduring connection to the Wet Mountain Valley's early German settlers—now keeps quiet watch over guests, thanks to the thoughtful preservation efforts of the building's previous owners.
Tucked beyond a private hallway at the top of the hotel's grand staircase, the Humboldt Suite feels wonderfully secluded, just as Humboldt Peak itself stands out above the town. A mirrored antique German armoire, comfortable lounge seating, and a dedicated writing desk set against exposed brick lend the room a sense of old-world sophistication. Rich jewel tones and plush emerald carpeting create an atmosphere that is both dramatic and inviting, while the palatial king bed promises an indulgent night's rest.
The suite's three-quarter bathroom offers modern comfort within its historic surroundings. Just outside, a petite private balcony provides an intimate perch from which to take in sweeping westward views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
